Bill Clinton Visits Earthquake Ravaged Haiti
These days, it seems everybody’s attention is focused on Haiti. That includes former U.S. President Bill Clinton who made a personal visit to the earthquake-ravaged country in his capacity as the United Nations special envoy.
Mr. Clinton is accompanied by daughter Chelsea when he arrived in the devastated capital, Port-au-Prince to assess disaster relief efforts and meet with Haitian President René Preval.
World leaders have pledged massive amounts of assistance to rebuild the capital, after last Tuesday’s 7.0 magnitude quake left Haiti in ruins, and thousands dead, homeless or injured.
I am glad to know that relief efforts (food, water and other necessities) are gaining momentum but the search for tens of thousands of survivors remain daunting.
By the way, Google is doing their part by creating an online People Finder gadget so that people can submit information about missing persons and search the database.
They are also helping families in the U.S. stay connected with their loved ones in Haiti by offering free calls to Haiti for the next two weeks via Google Voice.
