Google Postpones Nexus One Launch in China

Google is taking its battle with China a step further by postponing its Nexus One launch in China.

Although Google’s negotiations with the Chinese government is still ongoing, it is now obvious that the fallout for Google could involve not only its search business in China but also its mobile platforms.

I am not sure if this is a cool headed business decision because it is not as though China is going to back down. Firstly they have Baidu, and Yahoo and Microsoft will gladly pick up whatever spillover search engine traffic when Google.cn is no longer available.

As for the mobile phone market, Google will lose out on the masses of Chinese consumers who have a voracious appetite for gadgets. If you talk about purchasing power, they are among the strongest in Asia, if not the world, right now.
