New Technology For Virtual Pottery

New Technology For Virtual Pottery

Still remember the hit movie, Ghost, where a couple engage in a romantic pottery scene? Pottery is an interesting hobby and can help couples improve their relationships. If it doesn’t appear romantic, at least you can create a hell of a mess and throw clay at each other to relieve stress.

New technology is now available to let you in on the joys of pottery without getting your hands dirty. Instead of touching the spinning clay, a virtual wireframe will capture your hand movements to mold the pottery before transmitting to a modified 3D printer that will “print” using clay.

I don’t know if this technology will help to promote pottery among the Gen Y who are more interested in playing computer games. For me, the experience may be similar – you still use your hands to mold the pottery, but it is too clean. I like a bit of mess when handling the clay.

Will you guys enjoy this virtual pottery?

To be honest it must be said that all this high tech stuff is too much for my little old head. But it sounds very interesting, nevertheless. And the blog presented it in a catchy way. That’s why I retweeted the seventoten.com blog’s 3 D innovation by Microsoft @zepzim.
