The battle for aerial superiority has reached no-man’s land literally, with pilot-less fighter planes.

The United States Air Force is exploring a F-22 Raptor replacement, which is unmanned and remotely controlled, to be ready by 2030.

If the Unmanned Air Vehicle capabilities become a reality for future air combat fighter planes, pilots may be a thing of the past. This is good as you put humans out of harm’s way. And the plane could execute more complex maneuvers without extreme, life-threatening G forces knocking out the pilots.

Instead of developing sophisticated instrumentation and life support systems for pilots, future technology may focus on wireless control. It will be if your enemies hijack your network and disrupt the remote controls…

By 2030 there should be reliable chemical laser systems (or something closely related) that could defeat anything other than a robot with similar weaponry.
