Samsung Jumping into Social Network with Samsung Facebook

Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones have been a phenomenal success. Apple is nervous and Facebook may be next in line after Samsung revealed its plans to release a social network early next year, tentatively known as “Samsung Facebook”.

The Samsung Social Network will compete with Facebook on a variety of internet enabled devices like cameras, TV’s and BluRay players. Samsung Facebook may be built on Amazon’s cloud computing platform.

Is Samsung biting off more than it can chew? Samsung offers a wide variety of popular devices so scaling up users should be a breeze. But in reality, getting people to leave Facebook for good is not easy. Just ask Google, with its Google+ and massive user base, Facebook is still sitting pretty as the kingpin of social media. Fortunately, Samsung has money to burn, even if this investment goes down the drain.

Personally – I think , If a brand can start their own social network dedicated to their targeted customers successful – even with a small user base it can offer exponential marketing value and repeat customers.
