Motorola Unveils New Smartphones – Motorola Razr Maxx and Razr V

Motorola Mobility has launched two new smartphones – Razr Maxx and Razr V with arguably the longest-lasting battery providing up to 17.6 hours of talk time.

Motorola Razr Maxx and Razr V

The Razr Maxx comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and can be upgraded to 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). At only 8.9mm thin, it has a 4.3-inch super AMOLED Advanced display cased in a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and splash-guard coatings.

The Razr Maxx features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, which can be used to shoot 1080p videos and a front-facing HD video camera for chats. Being “Business Ready”, the Razr Maxx will appeal to business community with its government-grade encrytion that protects your email, contacts and calendar from prying eyes.

As for the Motorola Razr V, it is touted as a “sexy yet affordable.” It will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich when it is available in third quarter this year.

Both the Razr Maxx and the Razr V have Smart Actions, which automate your phone settings. For example, it will automatically turn off its ringer when you are home from work; shut off email when you sleep; or dim the screen when the battery power dips below 30 per cent.

The lock-screen has been vastly improved in Android 4.0 and now gives quick access to notifications, phone camera and supports Face Unlocking. Motorola improves further by letting you make calls and send messages quickly from your lock-screen.

Web-browsing is also improved with addition of tabbed browsing, fast page loading and easy syncing with Chrome. Data reporting features ensure you don’t ever exceed your monthly allowance. Real time voice-typing enables you to send messages or browse the web without using your hands.

The Razr family of smartphones is one of Motorola’s jewels. At affordable prices, the two gadgets should be able to hold their own against other competitors.
