Samsung Ativ S Windows Phone 8 Smartphone
At the Windows Phone Summit in June, Samsung, HTC, Huawei and Nokia agreed to come up with Windows Phone 8 devices. Samsung has make good on the promise by announcing such device at IFA 2012 media event.
Dubbed as the Samsung Ativ S, the device is part of Samsung’s new family of Windows devices grouped together under the Ativ series. The new Samsung Ativ S smartphone has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor together with 1GB of RAM.
It is available with 16GB or 32GB worth of internal storage space which can be further expanded through the device’s microSD card slot.
In terms of imagery, the Samsung Ativ S is equipped with an 8-megapixels auto-focus camera with LED flash at the back and a 1.9-megapixels VT camera at the front. The gadget also comes with Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality and large battery capacity at 2300mAh.
Samsung has already established a strong foothold on Android. With this foray by Samsung Ativ S into Windows Phone, Nokia is likely to be displaced. The Windows Phone battle is getting interesting as Nokia is not sitting by – its next generation Lumia devices will be announced next week.
