Samsung is set to continue the phenomenal success of its Galaxy S series devices, especially S II which has gained universal praise and sales volume. Its third generation Galaxy S smartphone is expected to be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in February 2012.

Samsung Galaxy S III may come with a quad-core processor, 720p HD Super AMOLED Plus display for stunningly bright and an sharp, colorful display as well as Android 4.0 operating system, the Ice Cream Sandwich.

More interesting for gadget fans is that Samsung may be incorporating 3D technology into playback, photo and video recording into either Galaxy S III or Galaxy S 3D. The 3D feature is the same kind of glasses-free 3D technology as Nintendo’s 3DS handheld but so far, 3D phones in the market like HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D have not really taken off.

But with Galaxy S devices being so popular, 3D technology for mobile games and streaming video may finally come to the fore. Once users and developers start creating content and apps rapidly, 3D technology could be indispensable feature of smartphones.

2012 could really shape up to be an intense smartphone battle between Samsung and Apple on features, design and patents. Stay tuned for the Mobile World Congress trade show to see who gain the upperhand.

This year, after much hyping and speculation, Apple fans ended up greatly disappointed by iPhone 5 non-appearance. But their wait could be well worth it as a redesigned iPhone 5 may launch in Fall 2012.

The sixth generation iPhone could sport an aluminum rear casing, with a rubberized bezel much like Apple’s iPhone 4 bumper cases. Gone are the Gorilla glass which although stylish, is highly susceptible to cracks and smashes.

This will be the first iPhone without the innovation and marketing genius of Steve Jobs to get techies into a tizzy. iPhone 4S did not impress but broke sales records, will iPhone 5 achieve the same success?

Asus is set to launch the Eee Pad Transformer Prime which stands head and shoulders above other tablets with its quad core processor. Apple’s Power Mac G4 with its dual processors has been billed a super computer, just imagine the computing prowess of Asus Transformer Prime.

Transformer Prime is the first to use NVIDIA’s new quad-core Tegra 3 (Kal-El processor). Besides being a supercomputer tablet, it is more attractive than the original Asus Eee Pad Transformer. The latter was a popular Android tablet, but didn’t score with boxy look.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime’ has a larger screen (10.1 vs 9.7) than iPad 2 but it is much thinner and lighter due to its aluminum exterior. The screen, Super IPS+ display (at 1280×800) under Gorilla Glass has a 178-degree viewing-angle and brighter color, an improvement over the original Transformer and Eee Pad Slider.

There is also a keyboard dock (sold separately) which is made of aluminum casing with metallic swirl pattern to match the Prime. I appreciate the keyboard dock because touch-screen typing is frustrating when you have serious typing to do.

Another impressive feature is the battery life – 12 hours of usage, supposedly best for tablets, thanks to Tegra 3′s advanced power management. If attached to the keyboard dock, you get a whopping 18 hours. helps with this. The 1.2 megapixel front camera and an 8 megapixel back camera with a F2.4 aperture, are equally impressive. It can also record 1080p video.

Transformer Prime could hit stores in December. Stay tuned for updates.

Despite lukewarm reviews of iPhone 4S when it was unveiled, Apple is celebrating record iPhone 4S sales – moving as many as 4 million units this weekend.

For early birds who got their hands on the latest iGadget, it is not all rosy. Several frustrating iPhone 4S issues range from subpar screen quality, unresponsive Siri to slow Sprint.

There was a time when Apple iPod ruled the digital music player business but consumers preferences have shifted somewhat.

As the iconic music player celebrates its 10th anniversary next month, there are speculation that Apple may discontinue the iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle.

It is not hard to understand why Apple want to axe the iPods. Since the arrival of iPhone, iPod sales are declining year after year and now generate only 8-percent of Apple’s total revenue according to Q4 2010 statistics.

Apple can deploy their resources to more profitable ventures and it is better to call it quits at the top than to have consumers slam your products for falling short and destroy the brand. What do you guys think?

Nothing seems to fly off the shelves as fast as tablets. HP is gearing up for a piece of this action with its WebOS 3.0-based tablet, the TouchPad, with a U.S. launch on July 1.

HP has wasted no time to play up the hype with nine videos that highlight some of the device’s capabilities.

HP WebOS 3.0 has a notification system and ability to multitask by switching between open apps, flicking unused apps off with a simple finger gesture and grouping of related tasks in a stack of cards.

The HP tablet has a powerful dual-core 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon processor, 16 GB or 32 GB storage, 1 GB of RAM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

TouchPad can also support both HTML 5 and Adobe Flash and works well with other WebOS devices like Pre 3. Using a new feature called Touch to Share, you can touch the Pre 3 on the TouchPad, and data will instantly be transferred. Freaking cool!

Check out HP TouchPad videos below.

Apple is laughing all the way to the bank, it seems nobody can say no to their iPads.

Airlines are now distributing iPads to their pilots. Recently, Alaska Airlines was approved to allow Apple iPads to replace paper flight charts and maps. The pilots no longer need to carry over 11kg of paper manuals every time they travel. They can just bring the lighter iPad, making their work more efficient.

For the airlines, they can offset the cost of iPads by fuel savings from reduced weight, and fewer expenses for back and muscle injuries to pilots from carrying their flight bags.

I am usually happy when businesses adopt technology to improve their efficiency but in this case, the gadgets could be rather distracting. Let’s hope the pilots don’t become too engrossed with surfing the web, watching videos or playing games on the iPads.

Hasselblad H4D-200MS comes with a 50 megapixel sensor and uses multi-shot technology to produce an astounding 200MP image. A piezoelectric motor moves the sensor while the camera takes six images and within 30 seconds, they are merged into a 200MP image.

Other features include support for an external hard drive and an ISO range of 50 to 800. Though the H4D-200MS will break the bank, photography professionals will love this gadget… but they will have to take care of the lenses else the stunning pictures may show up ugly imperfections, wrinkles, dust, etc.
